Dear Central Christian School Families,
Thank you for your prayers, patience, and understanding as our school continues to follow the guidance of state and public health officials in the COVID-19 response. Late last night Governor Kate Brown announced a statewide closure of Oregon’s K-12 schools beginning Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 31. During this closure, no events, meetings, activities, practices, or planned school travel will occur. We are supportive of these measures to do what we can to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
I want to reiterate that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 among Central Christian School staff or students at this time.
The school faculty is making preparations today for at-home learning during the days students are not at school (not including Spring Break). Depending on the grade level of your child, please look for the following:
Preschool-Grade 6: Teachers are sending home directions and materials for school work.
Grades 7-12: Teachers will communicate school work through Google Classroom and RenWeb.
Central Christian is planning for students to return to school on Wednesday, April 1 unless otherwise directed by our state’s leaders. We will remain in communication with the Oregon Health Authority to ensure that our facilities are prepared for the safe return of our students.
The end of quarter three has been moved to April 3. This will provide time for students to turn work in upon returning to school after the closure.
We have changed three days in the school’s April calendar to gain back in-school instructional time. Preschool-elementary parent conferences have been canceled. All students will attend school April 9-10. In addition, all students will attend school Monday, April 13, the day after Easter.
At this time the spring performance of The Music Man will occur as scheduled. Mr. Valenti will communicate with the cast and crew with rehearsal/work details.
The Matter of the Heart Auction – Tiger Tailgate – will be moved to later in the spring. Look for an auction email update from Shannon Polk when details have been finalized.
Thank you again for your prayers, flexibility, and support during these quickly changing times. Our state and national leaders need our prayers as well as they make decisions to help keep our communities safe.
Standing in God’s Overwhelming Peace (Psalm 91),
Elisa Carlson – Head of School
