CCS Seniors to Finish Strong
Dear Seniors and Families of CCS Seniors ~
Many of you have reached out to us with questions and concerns about what the remaining part of your Senior’s year will look like. We do not have all the answers, but have addressed some of these below in light of these unprecedented times we are walking through due to the COVID-19 issue. It is our heart to partner with each one of our seniors in order for them to finish their senior year strong culminating with graduating from CCS.
Dual Credit Courses – Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Sloan, Mrs. Tawzer, Mrs. Valenti, and Mrs. Reynolds are working with our dual credit partners (NNU and CCU) to ensure that you will complete the requirements to earn high school and college credit for the courses that you are enrolled in for dual credit.
Formal – Prior to school closure, Mr. Hatten had been working with Eagle Crest to have the High School Formal either on May 1 or 2. At this point, we are not sure if we will be able to have it on those dates due to the restriction of limiting 25 people in a gathering. However, it is our heart to still have the Formal even if the date has to change.
Graduation – We are planning on it! In light of the governor of Oregon’s executive orders, we do not yet know what that gathering may look like, but you will graduate from CCS! As we have been praying all along and still planning on, your graduation will be held in the CCS gymnasium building if it is indeed ready for occupancy. If not, we will have an alternative plan. CCS high school graduation will happen.
Scholarships – Many of you have been working with Mrs. Reynolds on the application process of various scholarships. We know that there are often multiple steps involved in this process. If you need any help with scholarship application information or transcripts etc, please reach out to Mrs. Reynolds or Mrs. Valenti and they can be of assistance to you. At this point all of the deadlines are still as originally set and if that changes Mrs. Reynolds will let you know.
Senior Internships – Some of you were planning to complete these during the last quarter of your senior year. Because of the mandate for social distancing, some senior internships have been cancelled. In light of this, we are eliminating the requirement of having to complete a senior internship/job shadow in order to earn an honors diploma.
Senior Trip – You have all worked so diligently this year raising money for an amazing senior trip. Thank you to our incredible “Senior Mom” – Martha Johnson for all her help in orchestrating some wonderful plans – it is our heart that this will still happen. We know that plane tickets and lodging have been arranged and unless we are instructed otherwise, we are believing your trip to San Diego is still a go.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know as it is our heart to walk through all of this with you!
Be encouraged with me by Psalm 91, which has been such a comfort to my heart during these times. “When you sit enthroned under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High. He’s the hope that holds me and the Stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence…His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under his covering of majesty and hide. His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm…Don’t fear a thing…When we live our lives in the shadow of God Most High, our secret hiding place, we will always be shielded from harm…God send angels with special orders t protect you wherever you go, defending you from all harm…I will greatly protect you. I will set you in a high place safe and secure before my face. I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will find and feel my presence even in your time of pressure and trouble…”
May Jesus’ peace which passes all understanding guard your hearts ~ Melissa
