Christy (Miller) Rummel – CCS class of 2000
2000-2004: Biology, BSN at George Fox University, Newberg, OR. Amazing years of friendships I’ll have for a lifetime.
2004-2006: Master of Nursing at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, specializing to be a Family Nurse Practitioner.
July 2006: Married to the love of my life, Tobin Rummel, who I met at George Fox University – we met in Biology class. 🙂
August 2006 – Moved down to Southern California where Tobin was attending medical school at Western University of Health Science in Pomona, CA.
During this time I worked as an RN on a medical/surgical and orthopedic floor in a hospital in Fullerton, CA. Then later worked Part Time as well as NP in a Free Clinic.
January 2008: Moved to Medford, OR, because my husband’s 3rd year rotations were there. I worked at a low-income clinic called La Clinica del Valle for 1 year. Was a great place to work, learn, and grow in clinical practice.
January 2009: Moved back to Pomona, CA. Went back to work on the same medical/surgical floor in Fullerton, CA because I couldn’t find other jobs (this was the difficult economical time). Then I was offered a position to work with an Internal Medial Doctor who needed an NP to work with him in the hospital doing rounds on his patients, admissions and discharges. This was a huge stretch for me, because the hospital setting is much different than the clinic. But again, I learned and grew a lot in my clinical skills.
June 2010: My husband graduated from Medical School, and was accepted to a Family Physician residency program in Corvallis, OR. So we moved to Corvallis, OR. I am now working in a Clinic, functioning as a primary care provider, and learning more and more knowledge about true preventative care – educating on nutrition, exercise, entire wellness, appropriate nutraceutical support, and lastly prescriptions when absolutely needed. We love that we are again living in the Northwest, closer to family, the outdoors, and just the culture of the Northwest. From here, we don’t know, but it is looking that we might be staying in Corvallis for a while. My husband will graduate from Family residency program in 1 1/2 years, and then likely will do a specialty year here in Osteopathic Manipulations/Neuromuscular Medicine. And from there might start practicing here in the area. God knows, and we are trusting Him. He has shown Himself faithful through all these years! I can’t believe High School was over 10+ years ago.
